DBT Waitlist Notice - September 2016

Dear Valued Community Partner,

Due to the success and demand for our Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Program for Adolescents, we are temporarily closing the waitlist.

We appreciate your interest in our service. If there is a youth that you are interested in referring, please check back with us in early 2017 to see if we have re-opened the waitlist.

Upon re-opening of the waitlist: Please be advised that the program requires a professional referral (i.e., social worker, psychologist, psychiatrist etc.) and our process for referral will continue as follows:

1) Telephone screening with DBT intake worker to ensure client meets criteria (can be reached at 416-482-0081):

a. Youth must live in Toronto

b. Youth must be between the ages of 15 and 17

c. Emotion regulation must be a main presenting issue

2) Completion of the application package by referring professional and client

3) Submit the application package by fax to 416-482-5055

Alternative DBT Resource: LOFT Community Services: DBT Skills Training is a closed, 10 week, skills training group that gives youth the tools to build competency in mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance as outlined by Marsha Linehan’s research and publications. Please contact Bretton Dabous (bdabous@loftcs.org) or Christine Newson (cnewson@loftcs.org) for more information and to register. Please note: Youth MUST have ongoing professional support for the duration of the 10-week program.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter and we look forward to continuing to offer this valued service in Toronto.

Sincerely, The DBT Program at Delisle Youth Services
